Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary for Kodaikanal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Bryant Park
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    In the morning, explore the tranquil Bryant Park, with its colourful flowers, hybrids and rafts. The park has a beautiful botanical garden, a glasshouse and a few serene walking trails.
    In the afternoon, visit the Kodaikanal Lake, where you can take a relaxing boat ride amidst the scenic beauty. You can also stroll around the lake and indulge in some street food.
    In the evening, head to the Coakers Walk, a one-kilometre-long paved pedestrian pathway that offers a breathtaking view of the valley and the surrounding hills.

  2. Day 2: Bear Shola Falls
    15 minutes (3.2 km) from Coakers Walk

    In the morning, head to Bear Shola Falls, a seasonal waterfall that is named after the bears that used to come here to drink water. The waterfall is surrounded by dense forests and is a great place for a picnic.
    In the afternoon, visit the Pine Forest, a scenic spot with tall pine trees that offer a refreshing break from the heat. You can take a walk or even go horse riding here.
    In the evening, head to the Kurinji Andavar Temple, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Muruga. The temple is surrounded by beautiful Kurinji flowers that bloom once every 12 years.

  3. Day 3: Dolphin's Nose
    1 hour 15 minutes (21 km) from Kurinji Andavar Temple

    In the morning, head to Dolphin's Nose, a scenic viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valley. The viewpoint is named after its unique rock formation that resembles a dolphin's nose.
    In the afternoon, visit the Pillar Rocks, a set of three giant rock pillars that stand tall at a height of 400 feet. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the valley from here.
    In the evening, head to the Green Valley View, also known as the Suicide Point. The viewpoint offers a stunning view of the valley and the surrounding hills.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Berijam Lake, which is a beautiful reservoir surrounded by dense forests. You'll need to obtain a permit from the forest authorities to visit this place.
You can also take a day trip to the Palani Murugan Temple, a famous Hindu temple located in the nearby town of Palani.
