Start your adventure by trekking to the highest peak in Wayanad, Chembra Peak. The trek is about 5 km long and takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete. You will be rewarded with a stunning view of the heart-shaped lake from the summit. After the trek, have lunch at one of the local restaurants and try some traditional Kerala cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Edakkal Caves which are located about 1 hour (16 km) from Chembra Peak. The caves have ancient inscriptions and are believed to be about 6000 years old. In the evening, head to Pookode Lake which is 45 minutes (15.8 km) from Edakkal Caves. You can enjoy boating and take a walk in the lush green surroundings of the lake.
Start your day by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. You can enjoy trekking, speed boating and zip-lining here. After spending some time at the dam, head to the Soochipara Waterfalls which are located about 1 hour (20.5 km) from the dam. The waterfalls are surrounded by dense forests and are a great spot for swimming and trekking. In the afternoon, head to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary which is about 1 hour 20 minutes (42 km) from the waterfalls. Here, you can go on a jeep safari and spot elephants, deer, and other wildlife.
If you're looking for more adventure, you can try rock climbing and rappelling in the Karapuzha Dam area. You can also visit the Kuruvadweep Island which is a group of small islands surrounded by the Kabini river.
