Family-Friendly 2-Day Itinerary for Kolhapur in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahalaxmi Temple

    In the morning, visit the Mahalaxmi Temple, one of the most famous temples in Maharashtra. Dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity, the temple complex also includes shrines to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Take a guided tour to learn about the history and mythology of the temple. In the afternoon, have lunch at a nearby restaurant and then visit the Rankala Lake, a popular picnic spot for locals. Take a boat ride or simply enjoy the views of the lake. In the evening, head to the Shalini Palace, a beautiful heritage building that now houses a museum. Learn about the history of Kolhapur and see exhibits of art, weapons, and other artefacts.

  2. Day 2: Panhala Fort and Jyotiba Temple
    1 hour 10 minutes (20 km) from Hotel Pearl Kolhapur

    In the morning, head to the Panhala Fort, located on a hilltop overlooking the city. This historic fort was built in the 12th century and was an important strategic location during various battles. Take a guided tour to learn about the history and architecture of the fort. In the afternoon, have lunch at a nearby restaurant and then head to the Jyotiba Temple, located on a hill nearby. This temple is dedicated to Lord Jyotiba, a form of Lord Shiva. The temple complex also includes shrines to other deities and a holy pond. In the evening, return to the hotel and relax.
