3-Day Itinerary for Suriyanelli, Munnar in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point
    1 hour and 30 minutes (32 km) from Suriyanelli

    In the morning, head to Mattupetty Dam to enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. Take a boat ride on the dam and watch the misty clouds descend on the hills. After lunch, head to Echo Point, where you can shout your heart out and hear your own voice reverberating back. Take a relaxed stroll through the lush green meadows and enjoy the scenery.

  2. Day 2: Top Station and Kolukkumalai Tea Estate
    2 hours and 15 minutes (54 km) from Echo Point

    In the morning, drive to Top Station, the highest point in Munnar, to enjoy the panoramic views of the Western Ghats. On a clear day, you can see as far as the plains of Tamil Nadu. After lunch, head to Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, one of the highest tea plantations in the world. Take a tour of the estate and learn about the tea-making process. End your day with a mesmerizing sunset view at the tea estate.

  3. Day 3: Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and Marayoor Sandalwood Forest
    2 hours and 45 minutes (72 km) from Kolukkumalai Tea Estate

    In the morning, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, a unique habitat for endangered species like the grizzled giant squirrel. Take a guided trek through the sanctuary and spot some wild animals. After lunch, head to Marayoor Sandalwood Forest, a fragrant forest with ancient dolmens and caves. Take a stroll through the forest and learn about the history of sandalwood in the region.
