2-Day Itinerary for Kodaikanal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Coaker's Walk
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    Start your day with a refreshing walk along Coaker's Walk, a scenic promenade that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and hills. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the valley covered in mist. After your morning walk, head to the nearby Kurinji Andavar Temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, for a spiritual experience. In the afternoon, visit Bryant Park, a beautifully landscaped garden with a wide variety of flowers and plants. You can take a boat ride on the lake in the park or enjoy a picnic with your family. In the evening, make your way to the Kodaikanal Lake, where you can take a peaceful stroll or go boating on the still waters.

  2. Day 2: Pillar Rocks
    30 minutes (8.2 miles) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    Start your day early and head to Pillar Rocks, which is a set of three giant rock pillars that stand tall at over 400 feet. The view of the pillars against the green background is truly stunning. After your visit to Pillar Rocks, head to the nearby Guna Caves, which are believed to have been formed by the Pandavas during their exile. In the afternoon, visit Dolphin's Nose, a viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. The view is especially spectacular during sunset. In the evening, visit the Shembaganur Museum of Natural History, which has a vast collection of flora and fauna from the Western Ghats.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider taking a side trip to Berijam Lake, which is a beautiful reservoir located about 20 km from Kodaikanal. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a serene atmosphere for relaxation. Another attraction to visit is the Palani Murugan Temple, located about 60 km from Kodaikanal. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the region. To maximize your fun, try out some of the local cuisine, such as the famous Kodai biryani or the spicy fish fry. Don't forget to try out some of the local sweets, such as the Pala paniyaram or the Kodaikanal special homemade chocolates.
