3-Day Nature Itinerary in Coorg, June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (8.5 km) from Madikeri

    In the morning, head to Abbey Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a short walk through the coffee and spice plantations to reach the falls, which cascade down from a height of 70 feet. Enjoy the scenic beauty and click some pictures. In the afternoon, visit the Madikeri Fort, a 19th-century fort with a rich history. Explore the fort and the museum inside, which has artifacts showcasing the history and culture of Coorg. In the evening, relax at Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with a stunning view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours 30 minutes (73.1 km) from Madikeri

    Begin your day with a visit to the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna. Trek through the dense forests and spot some exotic birds, butterflies, and animals like tigers, elephants, and leopards. In the afternoon, head to the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with the gentle giants. Take a ride on their backs and bathe them in the river. In the evening, visit the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Nisargadhama
    1 hour 30 minutes (45.3 km) from Madikeri

    On your last day, visit Talacauvery, the birthplace of River Cauvery, located atop the Brahmagiri hills. Take a dip in the holy waters and seek blessings at the nearby temples. In the afternoon, head to Nisargadhama, a beautiful island formed by the river Cauvery. Enjoy a picnic with your loved ones amidst the bamboo groves and the sound of the river flowing. You can also go boating, trekking, or elephant riding. In the evening, visit the Mandalpatti Viewpoint, a picturesque spot with a panoramic view of the valleys and hills.

If you have an extra day, visit the Iruppu Falls, a beautiful waterfall located in the Brahmagiri Range. You can also visit the Chelavara Falls, which is a popular spot for trekking and camping. For adventure seekers, there are many trekking trails in Coorg, like the Tadiandamol Trek and the Kumara Parvatha Trek. If you're a coffee lover, visit a coffee plantation and learn about the history and process of coffee-making.
