3-Day Itinerary for Rishikesh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lakshman Jhula
    3 minutes (0.2 miles) from Swarg Ashram
    Morning: Take a walk on the Lakshman Jhula bridge, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rishikesh. You can enjoy the stunning view of the Ganges river and the surrounding mountains from the bridge.
    Afternoon: Visit the Beatles Ashram, which is located 15 minutes (1.5 miles) from Lakshman Jhula. This ashram is famous for the Beatles' visit in 1968 and has beautiful graffiti art and meditation halls.
    Evening: Attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, which is a 25-minute (2.5 miles) drive from the Beatles Ashram. The ceremony includes prayers and offerings to the river Ganga.
  2. Day 2: Rajaji National Park
    1 hour 10 minutes (21.3 miles) from Parmarth Niketan Ashram
    Morning: Head to Rajaji National Park, which is a 1 hour 10-minute drive from Parmarth Niketan Ashram. The park is home to various wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, and more. Enjoy a jeep safari and explore the park.
    Afternoon: Take a trek to the Neer Garh Waterfall, located 45 minutes (15.6 miles) from Rajaji National Park. The waterfall is a serene and peaceful place to relax and unwind.
    Evening: Explore the local markets and indulge in some shopping for souvenirs and traditional clothing.
  3. Day 3: Triveni Ghat
    20 minutes (3.7 miles) from Lakshman Jhula
    Morning: Visit the Triveni Ghat, which is a popular bathing ghat on the banks of the Ganges river. Enjoy the serene and spiritual atmosphere of this place.
    Afternoon: Take a short trip to the Vashishta Gufa, which is a 20-minute (4.5 miles) drive from Triveni Ghat. The cave is believed to be the meditation spot of sage Vashishta and has a natural Shiva Linga inside it.
    Evening: Enjoy a peaceful sunset at the Parmarth Ghat, which is a 20-minute (3.5 miles) drive from Vashishta Gufa. The ghat offers a beautiful view of the Ganges river and the surrounding mountains.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can consider visiting the Kunjapuri Temple, located 45 minutes (16.6 miles) from Parmarth Niketan Ashram. The temple offers a panoramic view of the Himalayan mountains and is a famous spot for sunrise and sunset. You can also try river rafting in the Ganges river or indulge in some yoga and meditation at one of the many yoga centers in Rishikesh. Don't forget to try the local street food, especially the chaat and lassi. Lastly, make sure to carry a sunscreen, hat and comfortable shoes as it is quite hot in July.
