Rishikesh Relaxation Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Triveni Ghat
15 minutes (4 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

Start your day with a peaceful visit to Triveni Ghat, one of the most sacred bathing spots in Rishikesh. Take a dip in the holy water and witness the morning aarti (prayer) ceremony to make your day serene and spiritual. The ghat area has many stalls selling flowers, sweets, and souvenirs that you can explore.

For the afternoon, head to the nearby Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, which is a 20-minute drive from Triveni Ghat. This ashram was made popular by the Beatles in the 60s and was abandoned for a while before being reopened for tourists. Walk around the graffiti-covered walls and explore the meditation caves that inspired the Beatles' music.

In the evening, relax and unwind at the picturesque Neer Garh Waterfall, which is a 40-minute drive from the ashram. You can take a dip in the cool waters of the waterfall or just sit back and enjoy the natural beauty around it.

  2. Day 2: Parmarth Niketan
10 minutes (2 km) from Triveni Ghat

Begin your day with a visit to Parmarth Niketan, a spiritual haven by the Ganges that offers yoga and meditation retreats. Attend the morning yoga session to rejuvenate and refresh your mind and body. After the session, experience aarti (prayer) ceremony at the Ganges river, which is a beautiful and peaceful sight to behold.

In the afternoon, visit the Rajaji National Park, a 2-hour drive from Parmarth Niketan. This park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, and elephants. Take a jeep safari or an elephant ride to explore the park and spot the wildlife.

In the evening, head to the Lakshman Jhula, a 20-minute drive from the national park. It is a suspension bridge over the Ganges river that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and the river below. Take a leisurely walk on the bridge and soak in the lively atmosphere of the region.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, visit the Beatles Cathedral, situated near the Beatles Ashram. It is a beautiful Gothic-style church with stunning stained-glass windows.

For the adventure enthusiasts, try river rafting in the Ganges or bungee jumping from the Jumpin Heights. These activities are available throughout the year except during the monsoon season (July-August).

To maximize your fun, try Rishikesh's street food, which includes chaat, pakoras, and sweets. Try the famous Lassi (yogurt drink) at any of the local shops.

Finally, don't forget to pack comfortable walking shoes and light cotton clothes for the hot and humid weather in June. Enjoy your trip to Rishikesh!
