6-Day Itinerary for Vietnam

  1. Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Tan Son Nhat International Airport

    In the morning, visit the War Remnants Museum to learn about the Vietnam War. Have lunch at Pho Binh, a local favorite for pho.   2. Day 2: Hoi An
    1 hour flight (600 km) from Ho Chi Minh City

  4. Day 4: Ha Long Bay
    3.5-hour drive (170 km) from Hanoi

    In the morning, take a cruise through Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning scenery. Have lunch on board the ship. In the afternoon, visit the Thien Cung Cave, one of the largest and most beautiful caves in the bay. In the evening, watch the sunset over the bay.

  5. Day 5: Hanoi
    3-hour drive (170 km) from Ha Long Bay

    In the morning, visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where the embalmed body of the revolutionary leader is kept. Have lunch at Cha Ca La Vong, a famous restaurant known for its fish dish. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university. In the evening, watch a water puppet show, a traditional Vietnamese art form.

  6. Day 6: Sapa
    5-hour drive (320 km) from Hanoi

    In the morning, take a trek through the rice terraces of Sapa, a region known for its stunning natural beauty. Have lunch at Little Sapa Restaurant for local cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Sapa Market to buy souvenirs. In the evening, relax with a massage at one of Sapa's many spas.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Mekong Delta or the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. For a side trip, take a boat tour of the floating villages on the Tonle Sap Lake.
