6-Day Adventure Itinerary for Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    16 minutes (5.4 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your adventure with a trek to the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. It will take around 3-4 hours to reach the peak, but the view of the heart-shaped lake from the top makes it worth the effort. You will need to get a trekking pass from the forest office before starting. Afternoon, visit the Soochipara waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing dip. In the evening, head to the Edakkal Caves, a UNESCO Heritage Site.

  2. Day 2: Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 35 minutes (35 miles) from Kalpetta

    Get up early to visit the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary. You can spot wild elephants, tigers, leopards, and other animals on a jeep safari. Afternoon, head to the Pookode Lake for boating and shopping for spices at the Pookode Spice Garden. In the evening, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India.

  3. Day 3: Kuruva Island
    1 hour 20 minutes (34 miles) from Kalpetta

    Visit the Kuruva Island, a beautiful forest reserve with a river flowing through it. Enjoy a long walk on the hanging bridge and feel the cool breeze of the river. Afternoon, head to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary for another jeep safari. In the evening, visit the Jain Temple in Sulthan Bathery.

  4. Day 4: Sunrise Valley
    1 hour 10 minutes (27 miles) from Kalpetta

    Get up early to watch the sunrise at Sunrise Valley. It is a beautiful place with the sun rising from behind the mountains. Afternoon, head to the Karapuzha Dam for a picnic lunch and some water sports. In the evening, visit the Chethalayam Waterfalls.

  5. Day 5: Phantom Rock
    1 hour 19 minutes (22 miles) from Kalpetta

    Visit the Phantom Rock, a rock formation that gives the appearance of a skull. Afternoon, head to the Meenmutty Waterfalls, the largest and most spectacular waterfall in Wayanad. In the evening, visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum and learn about the history and culture of the region.

  6. Day 6: Bamboo Rafting in Kuruva Island
    1 hour 20 minutes (34 miles) from Kalpetta

    End your adventure with a bamboo rafting experience in Kuruva Island. You will be taken through the forest reserve on a bamboo raft. Afternoon, visit the Kuruvadweep Eco Park and enjoy some local snacks. In the evening, head to the Phantom Rock for a beautiful sunset view.
