5-Day Adventure Itinerary in Prayagraj in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Khusro Bagh
    30 minutes (6.7 km) from Prayagraj Airport

    In the morning, explore the historical Khusro Bagh, a beautiful garden housing the tombs of Prince Khusro, Shah Begum, and Khusro's sister. The garden is surrounded by high walls, and the tombs are made of beautiful white marble. In the afternoon, head to the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Witness the spectacular sunset view from the boat ride and indulge in the evening Ganga Aarti.

  2. Day 2: Allahabad Fort
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Khusro Bagh

    In the morning, visit the historic Allahabad Fort, which was built by Emperor Akbar in 1583. Witness the grandeur of the fort's architecture and explore its vast grounds. In the afternoon, head to the Anand Bhawan Museum and see the personal belongings of Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. In the evening, take a stroll at the Chandrashekhar Azad Park to enjoy the sunset and spend some time in nature.

  3. Day 3: Arail Ghat
    15 minutes (4.8 km) from Allahabad Fort

    In the morning, head to Arail Ghat, which is a popular spot for adventure enthusiasts. Enjoy a range of activities, like boating, kayaking, and canoeing. In the afternoon, visit the Allahabad Museum which has some fascinating displays, including a large collection of human and animal artefacts. In the evening, take a guided tour of the All Saints Cathedral and witness its beautiful architecture.

  4. Day 4: Minto Park
    20 minutes (5.6 km) from Arail Ghat

    In the morning, visit Minto Park, which is one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in Prayagraj. Enjoy activities such as jogging, walking and bird-watching. In the afternoon, head to the New Yamuna Bridge to get a fantastic view of the Ganges River. In the evening, explore the beautiful Alfred Park and spend some time in nature.

  5. Day 5: Kumbh Mela
    10 minutes (3.3 km) from Alfred Park

    In the morning, visit the Kumbh Mela, the largest peaceful gathering of people in the world which happens every 12 years. Witness the grandeur of the festival and participate in the rituals. In the afternoon, visit the Jawahar Planetarium and learn about the mysteries of space. In the evening, indulge in some shopping at the Civil Lines Market to buy some souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones.

Recommendations

If you are interested in history, you can also visit the Anand Bhawan Swaraj Bhawan, which is a historical museum dedicated to the Indian independence movement. You can also take a side trip to the nearby city of Varanasi, which is considered to be one of the holiest cities in India. To maximise your adventure, you can try paragliding at the Bamrauli Air Force Base or take a hot air balloon ride over Allahabad. Additionally, don't forget to try the local delicacies such as Peda and Prayagraj ki chaat.
