The church is just as impressive outside, with its impressive dome visible from miles away.
The Roman Forum was the center of public life during the Roman Empire, and it's an extensive collection of ruins that tell the story of ancient Rome. The Colosseum is one of the most iconic buildings in the world and the most magnificent monument of ancient Rome, built in 70-80 AD, and capable of seating up to 80,000 spectators. It has been partially reconstructed and it’s a symbol of the Eternal City.
The Spanish Steps are a very picturesque spot, with a beautiful view of the city. The famous Trevi fountain is said to grant a wish if you toss a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain. The Pantheon is one of the most incredible ancient buildings in Rome, made of stunning marble and with an impressive dome - it was originally a temple dedicated to all gods.
Most of the sites are located in the historic city center, so it’s good to get around by foot. Rome has great public transportation options, including buses and the metro, which are both cheap and easy to navigate. Single-ride tickets are available for €1.50 but a daily ticket can be purchased for €7 for unlimited use of public transportation.
For those who have more time, a visit to the Villa Borghese, Galleria Borghese, Piazza Navona or the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano is recommended. For those who have less time, the National Museum of Rome at Palazzo Massimo, or Baths of Caracalla could be skipped.

The main transportation options into the city include trains, taxis, and buses, and a ride into the city can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the traffic.
