Ooty Relaxation Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Botanical Gardens
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Ooty Lake

    In the morning, spend time at the Botanical Gardens, which is home to a variety of exotic plants and flowers. The garden is spread over 55 acres and has a fossil tree that is believed to be more than 20 million years old. You can also see a beautiful Italian-style garden, a lily pond, and a fern house. Afternoon can be spent exploring the Doddabetta Peak. It offers a panoramic view of the Nilgiri Hills. In the evening, visit the Government Museum, which displays tribal artifacts, sculptures, and paintings.

  2. Day 2: Avalanche Lake
    1 hour 20 minutes (40 km) from Botanical Gardens

    In the morning, visit the Pykara Waterfalls. It consists of two cascading falls surrounded by lush greenery. Afternoon can be spent at the Emerald Lake, which is surrounded by tea plantations and is known for its serenity. In the evening, visit the St. Stephen's Church, which is one of the oldest churches in the region. It has beautiful stained glass windows and Victorian-era architecture.

If you have time, take a toy train ride from Ooty to Coonoor. The train journey takes you through beautiful tea plantations and valleys. You can also visit the Ooty Rose Garden, which has more than 20,000 varieties of roses. If you are interested in wildlife, you can go on a safari in the Mudumalai National Park. You can also visit the famous tea factories in the region and learn about the history of tea-making in Ooty. Finally, make sure to try the local cuisine, which includes delicious dosas, idlis, and traditional South Indian filter coffee.
