6-Day Itinerary for Sikkim in October 2024

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    30 minutes (19 km) from Pakyong Airport

    Start the day at Enchey Monastery, a serene place with beautiful architecture. Head to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to learn about the Tibetan culture and history. In the evening, take a stroll around MG Marg, a popular pedestrian street with shops and restaurants.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Pass
    2 hours (40 km) from Gangtok

    Spend the morning admiring the tranquil Tsomgo Lake, surrounded by mountains and snow. Then, head to Nathula Pass, the India-China border, and take in breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Make sure to bring warm clothes, as temperatures can drop quickly in this area.

  3. Day 3: Pelling
    4.5 hours (110 km) from Gangtok

    Visit the majestic Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. Then, head to the Sangachoeling Monastery, a picturesque place with stunning views of the valley. In the evening, take a walk around the quaint town of Pelling and enjoy some local delicacies.

  4. Day 4: Ravangla and Namchi
    3 hours (75 km) from Pelling

    Visit the Buddha Park in Ravangla, a peaceful place with a towering statue of Buddha surrounded by manicured gardens. Afterward, head to Namchi and explore the Char Dham, a complex with replicas of four important Hindu pilgrimage sites. In the evening, relax at your hotel and enjoy the views.

  5. Day 5: Yuksom
    3 hours (75 km) from Namchi

    Start the day by visiting the Dubdi Monastery, the first monastery of Sikkim. Then, head to the Norbugang Park, a peaceful place with beautiful gardens and a historic stone throne. In the afternoon, take a hike to the Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred place for both Buddhists and Hindus.

  6. Day 6: Gangtok
    5 hours (125 km) from Yuksom

    On your last day, visit the Rumtek Monastery, one of the largest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. Then, head to the Banjhakri Falls, a scenic waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. In the evening, return to MG Marg in Gangtok for some last-minute shopping and souvenirs.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Tashiding Monastery, the Kanchenjunga National Park, or the Gurudongmar Lake.
