5-day Itinerary for Kedarnath in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Take a dip in the holy waters of Gauri Kund before proceeding to the temple. In the afternoon, trek to Gandhi Sarovar, a serene lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Finally, in the evening, attend the evening aarti at the temple for a truly spiritual experience.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal

    In the morning, start the trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake situated at an elevation of 4,150 meters. The trek is challenging but offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.   3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal

  4. Day 4: Gaurikund

Finally, in the evening, attend the evening aarti at the temple.

  5. Day 5: Sonprayag

    In the morning, drive to Sonprayag, a beautiful town located on the banks of the Mandakini River. Visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and then drive back to Kedarnath. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at the temple for a truly spiritual experience.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the beautiful town of Ukhimath, located just 42 km from Kedarnath. You can also take a helicopter ride to get a bird's-eye view of the Himalayas. To maximize your fun, it's recommended to start your day early and carry plenty of water and snacks while trekking. Finally, make sure to try the local chaat and special kachoris, which are a must-try in Kedarnath.
