Explore Wayanad in 3 Days

  1. Day 1: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (12.2 km) from Sulthan Bathery

    Morning: Start the day by taking a guided jeep safari through the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Spot exotic animals like elephants, tigers, leopards, and many species of birds.
    Afternoon: Head to the Edakkal Caves, famous for their ancient rock art and scenic views. It's a 45-minute trek to reach the caves, but the stunning view from the top is worth it.
    Evening: Visit the Soochipara Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall that's perfect for swimming and relaxing. You can also go rock climbing and zip-lining nearby.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak and Pookode Lake
    1 hour 10 minutes (27.4 km) from Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

    Morning: Start the day early and trek to the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and greenery.
    Afternoon: After the trek, head to Pookode Lake, a serene freshwater lake surrounded by forests. Go boating, explore the aquarium, and enjoy a picnic on the shores.
    Evening: Visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Go on a speedboat ride or simply enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

  3. Day 3: Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary and Thirunelli Temple
    50 minutes (23.7 km) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    Morning: Take a safari through the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, home to many species of animals and birds. It's a great way to get up close and personal with nature.
    Afternoon: Head to Thirunelli Temple, an ancient Hindu temple located in a picturesque valley. Take a dip in the nearby Papanasini river, believed to wash away one's sins.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to the Kuruvadweep islands, a group of small islands surrounded by dense forest and streams. Take a bamboo rafting ride and explore the islands' flora and fauna.
