Sikkim Honeymoon Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    30 minutes (20 km) from Pakyong Airport

    In the morning, take a walk around Gangtok and visit the Rumtek Monastery, which is one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim. In the afternoon, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and explore the beautiful flower gardens. In the evening, take a romantic stroll around M.G. Marg and enjoy the local street food.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (40 km) from Gangtok

    In the morning, head to Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, a glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Baba Mandir, a holy site for the Indian Army. In the evening, return to Gangtok and explore the local shopping markets.

  3. Day 3: Lachung
    5 hours (115 km) from Gangtok

    In the morning, start your journey to Lachung, a picturesque mountain village. On the way, visit the Seven Sisters Waterfall, Singhik View Point and the beautiful Yumthang Valley. In the evening, relax at your hotel and enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayas.

  4. Day 4: Lachung
    In and around Lachung

    In the morning, take a short trek to the beautiful Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, filled with colourful flowers. In the afternoon, visit the Yumthang Hot Spring and take a dip in the natural hot water. In the evening, enjoy a campfire and stargazing at your hotel.

  5. Day 5: Pelling
    6 hours (140 km) from Lachung

    In the morning, start your journey to Pelling, a charming hill town. On the way, visit the Singhik View Point and the Khecheopalri Lake, considered holy by both Buddhists and Hindus. In the evening, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery and enjoy the views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range.

  6. Day 6: Ravangla
    2 hours (60 km) from Pelling

    In the morning, head to the beautiful town of Ravangla and visit the Buddha Park, which houses a 130-foot tall statue of Lord Buddha. In the afternoon, visit the Ralang Monastery and explore the nearby tea gardens. In the evening, return to Pelling and enjoy a traditional Sikkimese dinner.

  7. Day 7: Gangtok
    3 hours (110 km) from Pelling

    In the morning, start your journey back to Gangtok. On the way, visit the Temi Tea Garden, one of the finest tea estates in India. In the afternoon, visit the Enchey Monastery and the Hanuman Tok, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner before departing Sikkim.

Recommendations

Make sure to try the local cuisine, especially the momos and thukpa. Consider taking a helicopter ride to get a bird's eye view of the Himalayas. If you have time, visit the Tashi Viewpoint and the Himalayan Zoological Park. You can also take a side trip to the nearby state of Darjeeling, famous for its tea gardens and toy train. Maximise your fun by carrying comfortable shoes for trekking and warm clothes to keep you cosy in the chilly weather.
