3-Day Family Friendly Wildlife Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden
    20 minutes (10 miles) from Beverly Hills

    In the morning, visit the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden to see over 1,400 animals from around the world. Don't miss the opportunity to see the new Rainforest of the Americas exhibit. Grab lunch at the zoo's cafe before heading to the Griffith Observatory. In the afternoon, explore the Griffith Observatory's exhibits and take in the stunning views of the Hollywood Hills. End the day with a hike through Griffith Park.

  2. Day 2: Aquarium of the Pacific
    25 minutes (13 miles) from Long Beach

    Begin the day with a visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Say hello to the sea otters, penguins and sharks, and learn about the diverse marine life in the Pacific Ocean. Then, head to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve for a hike or bike ride. In the evening, catch a movie at the historic Art Theatre or have dinner at the popular Beachwood BBQ & Brewing.

  3. Day 3: Whale Watching in Dana Point
    30 minutes (20 miles) from Laguna Beach

    Take a morning whale watching tour with Captain Dave's Dana Point Whale Watching to see blue whales, gray whales, dolphins, and sea lions. Afterward, head to the San Juan Capistrano Mission and learn about California's history. Then, check out the Ocean Institute where you can touch starfish and see the replica of the Pilgrim, a 19th-century trading ship. Finish the day with a walk on the beach at sunset.
