2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    40 minutes (13.7 km) from Kalpetta

    Located near Meppady, Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad with an elevation of 2,100 meters above sea level. The morning trek to the top takes around 3 hours. The ascent may be steep, but the 360-degree view of the surrounding hills and lush greenery is worth it. After descending, head to Pookode Lake for a refreshing swim followed by lunch. In the evening, visit the Edakkal Caves, which showcase prehistoric rock paintings and carvings dating back to the Neolithic era.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (43.8 km) from Kalpetta

    Start the day with a visit to Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India and the second-largest in Asia. The dam is surrounded by lush green hills and offers a beautiful view of the reservoir. After the visit, head to Soochipara Falls for a short hike and an adrenaline-pumping experience of zip-lining and rope-walking. You can also opt for a soothing swim in the natural pool beneath the falls. In the evening, visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary for a jeep safari and spot elephants, deer, tigers, and other exotic animals.
