Start your adventure by scaling the highest peak in Wayanad, the Chembra Peak. The trek to the top takes around 4 hours and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the heart-shaped lake on the way up. After reaching the peak, take in the breathtaking views while relaxing and re-energizing. Descend before sunset to avoid trekking in the dark.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam

Visit India's largest earthen dam, the Banasura Sagar Dam, in the morning. Take a speedboat ride on the dam's reservoir and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Afterward, you can go trekking or zip-lining at the nearby Banasura Hill Resort. In the evening, drive to the Meenmutty waterfalls, a 2 km hike through the forest, and enjoy the spectacular view of the falls.

  3. Day 3: Edakkal Caves and Soochipara Falls
45 minutes (15.5 miles) from Banasura Sagar Dam

Explore the Edakkal Caves in the morning, a prehistoric site with ancient rock carvings and paintings. The hike to the caves takes around 45 minutes and requires moderate fitness levels. Afterward, visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall with a pool at the bottom. You can swim in the natural pool or go for a short hike to the top of the falls for a bird's eye view.

  4. Day 4: Thirunelli Temple and Brahmagiri Peak
1 hour 20 minutes (33 miles) from Soochipara Falls

Start the day by visiting the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple located in the Brahmagiri Hills. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery and is considered one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Kerala. Afterward, go trekking to the nearby Brahmagiri Peak, which offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and hills. The trek takes around 3 hours and requires moderate fitness levels. End your adventure with a visit to the nearby Pakshipathalam bird sanctuary.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can spot elephants, tigers, and leopards. You can also go kayaking or rafting in the nearby Kabini River. To maximize your fun, pack comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Wayanad is home to several tea and coffee plantations, so don't forget to sample the local brews. Lastly, try to take a guided tour to make the most out of your adventure.
