Adventure-Filled 2-Day Itinerary in Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dubare Elephant Camp
    30 minutes (10.5 miles) from Kushalnagar

    Morning: Start your day early and head to the Dubare Elephant Camp. Witness the elephants being bathed by the mahouts and even participate in feeding them. You can also enjoy a coracle ride in the nearby river.
    Afternoon: Have lunch at the camp's canteen or at the nearby restaurants. Head to the Cauvery Nisargadhama, an island formed by river Cauvery. Explore nature trails, spot peacocks and deer, and enjoy boating in the lake.
    Evening: Return to Kushalnagar and visit the Golden Temple or Namdroling Monastery. The intricate Tibetan architecture and the serene atmosphere will leave you spellbound.

  2. Day 2: Brahmagiri Peak
    1 hour 45 minutes (44 miles) from Kushalnagar

    Morning: Start your day early and head to Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. After obtaining the necessary permits, embark on a trek to Brahmagiri Peak, the highest peak in Coorg. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats and spot the rare Nilgiri Marten.
    Afternoon: Head to Iruppu Falls, a beautiful waterfall located in the Brahmagiri Range. Take a dip in the cool waters and enjoy a picnic lunch.
    Evening: Return to Kushalnagar and visit the Chiklihole Reservoir. Take a boat ride and enjoy the scenic beauty of the reservoir surrounded by lush green forests.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Talacauvery, the birthplace of river Cauvery and Bhagamandala, a sacred confluence of three rivers. The Abbey Falls and the Raja's Seat in Madikeri are also worth visiting. You can also go for a coffee plantation tour or an adventure activity like river rafting or zip lining. Make sure to try the local cuisine and buy some Coorgi spices and coffee.
