4-Day Itinerary for Coorg in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Abbey Falls
    30 minutes (10.3 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit the picturesque Abbey Falls. Enjoy the lush greenery, the sound of the waterfall and the cool breeze. Take a short trek to the hanging bridge for a better view. In the afternoon, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful blend of Gothic and Islamic architecture. In the evening, take a stroll through Raja's Seat, a garden with a stunning view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Explore Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 10 minutes (22.8 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, head to the Dubare Elephant Camp and spend some time with the gentle giants. Watch them being bathed and fed, and learn about their daily routine. In the afternoon, visit the Nisargadhama Forest, a beautiful island formed by the Kaveri River. Take a walk on the hanging bridge and enjoy the serene atmosphere. In the evening, explore the Tibetan settlement at Bylakuppe and visit the Golden Temple.

  3. Day 3: Visit Talakaveri and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 40 minutes (38.2 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, visit Talakaveri, the birthplace of the Kaveri River. Take a dip in the holy waters and climb the Brahmagiri Hill for a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, visit the Bhagamandala Temple, one of the holiest places in Coorg. Explore the temple complex and the nearby Triveni Sangama, where the Kaveri, Kannike and Sujyothi rivers meet. In the evening, head back to Madikeri and visit the Madikeri Fort and the St. Mark's Church.

  4. Day 4: Trek to Tadiandamol Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (35.5 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, go on a trek to Tadiandamol, the highest peak in Coorg. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the hills and valleys, and the fresh mountain air. In the afternoon, head to the Chelavara Falls and take a dip in the cool waters. In the evening, visit the coffee plantations and learn about the history and production of coffee in Coorg.

Other local attractions to consider are the Iruppu Falls, the Mandalpatti Viewpoint and the Nagarhole National Park. For a side trip, you can visit the nearby town of Kushalnagar and explore the Harangi Dam and the Kaveri Nisargadhama. To maximize your fun, try local Coorg cuisine like pandi curry, bamboo shoot curry and akki roti. You can also go on a river rafting adventure on the Barapole River or enjoy a relaxing Ayurvedic massage.
