Kedarnath 4-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (3.3 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated in the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,583 meters. Afternoon, visit the Gandhi Sarovar, a beautiful lake situated at the distance of 6 km from Kedarnath. In the evening, explore the local market and try some local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Trek
    1 hour 15 minutes (8.4 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, begin trekking to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by glaciers and snow-capped mountains. The trek from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal is 8 km long and takes about 4-5 hours. Have lunch at Vasuki Tal and return to Kedarnath in the evening. Spend your evening relaxing in your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Madmaheshwar Temple
    1 hour 40 minutes (28.5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the Madmaheshwar Temple, one of the Panch Kedar temples located at an altitude of 3,289 meters. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Afternoon, visit the Buda Kedar Temple, located in the Guptkashi region. It is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva shifted after leaving Kedarnath. In the evening, return to your hotel in Kedarnath and relax.

  4. Day 4: Gaurikund and Hot Springs
    1 hour 40 minutes (33.8 km) from Madmaheshwar Temple

    In the morning, visit Gaurikund, a Hindu pilgrimage site and the base camp for the trek to Kedarnath. You can take a dip in the hot springs which are believed to have medicinal properties. Afternoon, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, which is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married. In the evening, return to Kedarnath and spend some time shopping for souvenirs.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, you can visit the Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. You can also go for a trek to Chorabari Tal, a beautiful lake situated at the height of 3,900 meters. If you're looking for a side trip, you can visit the nearby town of Guptkashi and explore the local markets.
