3-Day Itinerary for Kodaikanal in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Coaker's Walk
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    In the morning, take a leisurely stroll along Coaker's Walk, a scenic pedestrian path built along the edge of a steep slope. The walk offers magnificent views of the valley and surrounding hills. In the afternoon, visit the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, located at the end of Coaker's Walk. The observatory is one of the oldest in India and has a small museum showcasing the history of astronomy. In the evening, head to Bryant Park, a botanic garden with a large collection of plants and flowers. The park also has a glasshouse and a boating pond.

  2. Day 2: Pillar Rocks
    30 minutes (8 km) from Coaker's Walk

    Start your day early and head to Pillar Rocks, a set of three giant rock pillars standing tall amidst the greenery. The view of the valley from the viewpoint is mesmerizing. In the afternoon, visit the Guna Caves, a popular tourist spot surrounded by dense forests. The caves are believed to have been used as a hideout by the famous outlaw, Veerappan. In the evening, take a short hike to Bear Shola Falls, a scenic waterfall in the middle of a forest reserve. The waterfall is at its best during the monsoon season.

  3. Day 3: Berijam Lake
    1 hour 15 minutes (24 km) from Pillar Rocks

    On your last day, visit Berijam Lake, a pristine lake situated in a reserved forest area. The lake is known for its crystal clear water and scenic beauty. It is also home to many species of birds and animals. Entry to the lake is restricted, and you need to obtain a permit from the forest department to visit. In the afternoon, visit the Kodaikanal Yoga Center, a serene place to practice yoga and meditation. The center offers various yoga programs and retreats. In the evening, take a stroll along the Kodaikanal Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by hills. You can also go boating or horse riding here.
