A Relaxing 2-Day Itinerary for Rishikesh in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Triveni Ghat
20 minutes (5.6 km) from Rishikesh

Start your day with a calming visit to Triveni Ghat, one of the most sacred bathing spots in Rishikesh. Early morning is the best time to visit, when you can witness the daily Ganga Aarti ceremony, a Hindu ritual of worshiping the River Ganges. Take a dip in the holy river and cleanse your soul. Spend your afternoon taking a stroll in the scenic Rishikesh market, where you can find traditional handicrafts, jewelry, clothes, and gemstones. In the evening, head to The Sitting Elephant cafe for some delicious food and a stunning view of the Ganges.

  2. Day 2: Rajaji National Park
1 hour 20 minutes (35 km) from Rishikesh

Escape the city hustle and bustle and connect with nature at Rajaji National Park, which is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, and many other animals. Enjoy a safari ride and spot some wildlife. Spend your afternoon at the Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, where the Beatles spent time in 1968 for transcendental meditation. You can explore the graffiti-filled abandoned buildings and get a glimpse into the Beatles' spiritual journey. In the evening, head to the Pure Soul Cafe for some mouth-watering vegan food and a peaceful view of the Ganges.

Recommendations

Apart from the places mentioned in the itinerary, there are many other attractions and experiences you can consider, such as Neer Garh Waterfall, Vashishta Gufa Cave, and the Lakshman Jhula bridge. You can also take a side trip to Haridwar, which is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site and only 30 minutes (20 km) from Rishikesh. To maximize your fun, you can try adventure activities such as white water rafting, bungee jumping, and zip-lining. Lastly, make sure to attend a yoga or meditation session, as Rishikesh is known as the Yoga Capital of the World and has many ashrams and centers that offer classes for all levels. Namaste!
