4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Kashmir in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Srinagar
    10 minutes (4.1 km) from Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport Srinagar

    In the morning, head to Dal Lake for a Shikara ride and take a tour of the floating gardens. In the afternoon, visit the famous Mughal gardens like Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh. In the evening, enjoy a cup of Kashmiri Kahwa at the Chai Jaai café while relishing the beautiful view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Gulmarg
    2 hours 30 minutes (55.8 km) from Srinagar

    Start your day with a scenic drive to Gulmarg, also known as the 'Meadow of Flowers'. In the morning, take a gondola ride to Khilanmarg and enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas. In the afternoon, try your hand at skiing or snowboarding at the Gulmarg Ski Resort. In the evening, head back to Srinagar for dinner.

  3. Day 3: Pahalgam
    2 hours 30 minutes (92 km) from Srinagar

    In the morning, embark on a scenic drive to Pahalgam, also known as the 'Valley of Shepherds'. Visit the Betaab Valley and enjoy the picturesque view of the Lidder River. In the afternoon, go for a horse ride to Baisaran or visit the famous Amarnath Temple. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Kashmiri Wazwan at one of the local restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Sonamarg
    2 hours 20 minutes (80.3 km) from Srinagar

    In the morning, head to Sonamarg, also known as the 'Meadow of Gold'. Enjoy a pony ride to Thajiwas Glacier and take in the beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Zojila Pass and take a trek to the Gangabal Lake. In the evening, head back to Srinagar for a traditional Kashmiri dinner.

Recommendations

If you have more time, visit the Aru Valley in Pahalgam for a scenic hike. You can also take a side trip to the Lolab Valley in Kupwara. Don't forget to try the locally-made saffron and walnut products. To maximize your fun, plan your trip during the Tulip Festival at Srinagar's Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. Lastly, make sure to bring warm clothes as the temperature can drop in the evenings.
