4-Day Itinerary for Ooty in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ooty Botanical Gardens
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Ooty Lake

    In the morning, explore the Ooty Botanical Gardens. The gardens are spread over 22 hectares and feature a variety of plants and trees, including a fossil tree that is believed to be over 20 million years old. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Government Museum, which houses a collection of tribal artifacts and displays on the local flora and fauna. Finish the day with a relaxing stroll around Ooty Lake.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    30 minutes (9.5 km) from Ooty Botanical Gardens

    Start your day early and head to Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. The peak offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. After visiting the peak, stop by the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea production in the region. In the evening, visit the Rose Garden to see over 20,000 varieties of roses.

  3. Day 3: Avalanche Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (28 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Take a day trip to Avalanche Lake, a serene and picturesque lake surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery. You can enjoy a picnic by the lake or take a peaceful boat ride. On the way back, stop by the Pykara Waterfalls, one of the most popular waterfalls in the region.   4. Day 4: Thread Garden

    In the morning, visit the Thread Garden, a unique garden that features over 150 varieties of flowers and plants, all made entirely out of thread. After visiting the garden, head to St. Stephen's Church, one of the oldest churches in the region, to admire its beautiful architecture. In the evening, explore the vibrant commercial street of Ooty, known for its shops and restaurants.
