Ooty 3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Ooty Lake
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Ooty Bus Stand

    In the morning, take a leisurely walk around the picturesque Ooty Lake before renting a boat for a fun family activity. For lunch, try some local street food like vada or dosa from the food stalls near the lake. In the afternoon, visit the Government Botanical Garden to see the varied collection of trees and plants. In the evening, head to Thread Garden to see beautiful flower arrangements made entirely of thread.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    25 minutes (10 km) from Ooty Lake

    Start your morning with a scenic drive to Doddabetta Peak, the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and take some memorable family photos. Next, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and production of tea in the region. After lunch, head to the Tribal Museum to explore the rich culture and traditions of the local tribes. In the evening, visit the Government Rose Garden to see the beautiful collection of roses.

  3. Day 3: Pykara Falls and Sanctuary
    45 minutes (20 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Take a scenic drive to the Pykara Falls and Sanctuary. Start your morning with an exciting hike to the falls and take a refreshing dip in the pool. Afterward, visit the Pykara Boat House for a serene boat ride on the Pykara Lake. In the afternoon, visit the Deer Park to see different species of deer and other animals in their natural habitat. Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider taking a toy train ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway or visiting the Avalanche Lake. For a side trip, you can visit Coonoor, which is just 20 km from Ooty and has some beautiful tea estates and viewpoints. To maximize your fun, try to plan your visit during the Ooty Summer Festival in May or the Tea and Tourism Festival in January.
