Three-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    20 minutes (8.3 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, trek to the beautiful Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Take in the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and lush greenery. Afternoon can be spent visiting the nearby Soochipara Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall with a pool for swimming. In the evening, visit the Edakkal Caves, known for ancient petroglyphs and cave paintings.

  2. Day 2: Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (12.6 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your day with a Jeep safari at the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area with a large population of elephants, tigers, and various bird species. In the afternoon, visit the Pookode Lake for boating and a nature walk. In the evening, head to the Wayanad Heritage Museum, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    45 minutes (20.7 km) from Kalpetta

    On the last day, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Enjoy the serene surroundings, take a boat ride and indulge in some local snacks. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Meenmutty Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall in a scenic location. In the evening, visit the ancient Thirunelli Temple, known for its intricate carvings and sacred rituals.
