2-Day Itinerary for Amritsar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Golden Temple
    10 minutes (3 Km) from Amritsar Railway Station

    In the morning, start your day at the magnificent Golden Temple, the holiest Sikh shrine. Witness the daily ritual of the Guru Granth Sahib being carried from the Akal Takht to the sanctum sanctorum of Harmandir Sahib in the Palki Sahib. Afternoon, head to Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden and a memorial of national importance. Continue your historical journey at the Partition Museum, which is dedicated to the memory of the Partition of India. Evening, witness the Wagah Border Ceremony, an elaborate drill carried out by the soldiers of India and Pakistan.

  2. Day 2: Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and Gobindgarh Fort
    20 minutes (6 Km) from Golden Temple

    Start your day at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, which showcases the life of the Sikh ruler. Afterward, head to Gobindgarh Fort, which has now been converted into a cultural and entertainment hub. Experience the 7D show, laser show, and various adventure activities like zip-lining and archery. Afternoon, visit the Durgiana Temple, a Hindu temple in the city. Evening, visit the Khalsa College and the beautiful Ram Bagh Gardens, a historic garden founded by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Recommendations

Amritsar is a city filled with historical and cultural significance. If you have more time, then you should visit the Pul Kanjari, a historical village near the Wagah Border, and the Mata Lal Devi Temple, a unique temple dedicated to the goddess of snakes. You can also take a side trip to the beautiful hill station of Dalhousie, which is just a few hours away from Amritsar. Lastly, do not forget to try the local cuisine, especially the famous Amritsari Kulcha and Lassi.
