Darjeeling Nature Itinerary - August 2023

  1. Day 1: Tiger Hill Sunrise and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Darjeeling Railway Station

    In the early morning, watch the sunrise from Tiger Hill and enjoy panoramic views of Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain. After breakfast, visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute to learn about the history of mountaineering in the Himalayas and see rare specimens of Himalayan flora and fauna. In the afternoon, take a stroll in the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, home to the rare snow leopard and red panda. In the evening, enjoy a cup of Darjeeling tea at one of the many tea estates in the area.

  2. Day 2: Singalila National Park and Happy Valley Tea Estate
    1 hour 45 minutes (35 km) from Darjeeling Railway Station

    Embark on a day trip to Singalila National Park, famous for its trekking routes and stunning views of the Himalayas. Keep an eye out for rare species such as the red panda and Himalayan black bear. After lunch, visit Happy Valley Tea Estate, one of the oldest tea plantations in Darjeeling, for a tour of the tea factory and a tasting session. In the evening, return to Darjeeling for dinner and a stroll around the Mall Road.

  3. Day 3: Darjeeling Ropeway and Japanese Peace Pagoda
    15 minutes (3 km) from Darjeeling Railway Station

    Start the day with a ride on the Darjeeling Ropeway, which offers breathtaking views of the valley and the Teesta River. After the ride, visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda, a symbol of peace and harmony, and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. In the afternoon, take a walk through the Lloyd Botanical Garden, which boasts a wide variety of flora and fauna. In the evening, visit the Observatory Hill for a panoramic view of the town and enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.
