Darjeeling 5-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Tiger Hill
    20 minutes (5.2 km) from Darjeeling City Center

    Start your day early to catch a glimpse of the sunrise from Tiger Hill. The view of the sun rising from behind Mt. Kanchenjunga is a sight to behold. Afterward, visit the Ghoom Monastery, which houses a 15-feet high statue of Maitreya Buddha. Grab breakfast at Keventers and then head to Batasia Loop, a spiral railway track that offers a panoramic view of Darjeeling.

  2. Day 2: Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Tiger Hill

    Start your day by visiting The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, established in 1954, that trains mountaineers and conducts research on mountaineering. Visit the adjacent Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, home to rare animals such as Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bear, and Snow Leopard. Head to Darjeeling Ropeway for a cable car ride with a stunning view of the lush green tea estates. End the day with a visit to the Mahakal Temple, known for its beautiful architecture.

  3. Day 3: Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park
    30 minutes (10 km) from Darjeeling City Center

    Visit the beautiful Rock Garden, also known as the Barbotey Rock Garden, which features terraced gardens, waterfalls, and a musical fountain. Next, head to Ganga Maya Park, a stunning park with a lake, paddle boats, and a view of the surrounding hills. Visit the nearby Chunnu Summer Falls and the Kali Mandir.   4. Day 4: Singalila National Park
    2 hours (38 km) from Darjeeling City Center

    Start your day early and visit Singalila National Park, home to rare animals such as Red Panda, Leopard, and even the elusive Snow Leopard. The park also offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Visit the nearby Chitrey Monastery, and then head to Manebhanjan for a ride on the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. End the day with a visit to the beautiful Mirik Lake.

  5. Day 5: Peace Pagoda
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Darjeeling City Center

    Visit the Peace Pagoda, a beautiful white structure built by the Japanese monks that offer a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Next, head to the nearby Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center, which offers a glimpse into the lives of Tibetan refugees and their handicrafts. End the day with a visit to the Batasia Loop and a cup of Darjeeling tea at the Glenary's Bakery.

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the nearby town of Kalimpong, known for its flower nurseries and Buddhist monasteries. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Siliguri, known for its temples and shopping centers. To maximize your fun, try visiting the places during the early hours of the day to avoid the crowds. Do not forget to try the traditional Darjeeling Thukpa, a noodle soup with vegetables and meat.
