A 4-Day Itinerary Exploring the Natural Beauty of Kashmir

  1. Day 1: Srinagar
    28 minutes (7.5 miles) from Srinagar International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Mughal Gardens where you can admire the beauty of the Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashme Shahi. In the afternoon, take a Shikara ride on the serene Dal Lake, and witness the floating vegetable market. In the evening, stroll around the famous Boulevard Road, lined with shops and cafes offering local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Gulmarg
    1 hour and 47 minutes (34 miles) from Srinagar

    Start your day early and head to Gulmarg, known as the "Meadow of Flowers." Take the Gulmarg Gondola ride which will give you a bird's eye view of the picturesque valley and snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, go for a horse ride in the lush green meadows, and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. Wrap up your day by visiting the Alpather Lake, located at an altitude of 4,390 meters above sea level.

  3. Day 3: Pahalgam
    2 hours and 30 minutes (91.2 miles) from Gulmarg

    On day three, head to Pahalgam, also known as the "Valley of Shepherds." In the morning, visit the Betaab Valley, where the famous Bollywood movie "Betaab" was shot. In the afternoon, visit the Aru Valley, which offers spectacular views of the Himalayas and is a popular spot for trout fishing. In the evening, take a stroll around the local bazaar and indulge in some shopping for local handicrafts.

  4. Day 4: Sonamarg
    3 hours and 13 minutes (81.6 miles) from Pahalgam

    On the last day of your trip, visit Sonamarg, also known as the "Meadow of Gold." In the morning, take a pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier, located at an altitude of 9,186 feet, and enjoy the snow-capped mountains and the glistening river. In the afternoon, visit the Zojila Pass, one of the highest passes in India, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surroundings. In the evening, take a stroll around the local market and indulge in some local street food.

Aside from the destinations listed above, you may also want to consider visiting the Martand Sun Temple, Awantipora Ruins, and Shankaracharya Hill Temple. You can also take a side trip to the famous Amarnath Cave, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters above sea level.
