Kedarnath 2-Day Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, one of the Char Dhams and one of the holiest Hindu shrines. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in the picturesque Kedarnath town, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Take a pony ride or hike to reach the temple. In the afternoon, explore the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, home to rare Himalayan animals, including snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, and musk deer. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the sanctuary and indulge in birdwatching. In the evening, relax at the Kedarnath Helipad, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the town and surrounding mountains.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Lake
    Located 7 km from Kedarnath
    Opening Hours: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm

    In the morning, take a trek to the beautiful Vasuki Tal Lake, located at an elevation of 4,150 meters. The lake is surrounded by snow-clad mountains and is known for its clear blue waters. Enjoy the scenic beauty and relax by the lake. In the afternoon, visit the Gandhi Sarovar, located near the Vasuki Tal Lake. The pristine lake is named after Mahatma Gandhi, and you can see his statue here. The lake is also known for its medicinal properties. In the evening, return to Kedarnath and relax at the town's hot springs, known for their therapeutic properties.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, you can visit the nearby Gaurikund, which is located 16 km from Kedarnath. The place is named after Goddess Parvati and is believed to be her abode. You can also visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, located 25 km from Kedarnath, which is believed to be the site of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's marriage. You can also take a helicopter ride to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas. To maximize your fun, make sure you carry warm clothes, sunscreen, and a first-aid kit. Don't forget to try the local delicacies like Kachmauli and Bal Mithai.
