2-Day Nature Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak

  2. Day 1: Meenmutty Falls

    Meenmutty Falls is a three-tiered waterfall that cascades down from a height of over 800 feet. The trek to the falls is about 2 km. You will walk through a dense forest and across a river to reach the falls. You can take a refreshing dip in the natural pools at the base of the falls. Spend your evening relaxing at your hotel or visiting the Pookode Lake, a serene freshwater lake surrounded by forests.

  3. Day 2: Kuruva Island
    1 hour 30 minutes (39.1 km) from Pookode Lake

    Start your day with a visit to Kuruva Island, a group of uninhabited islands situated along the Kabini River. You can reach the islands by bamboo rafts. The island is known for its dense forest cover, varied flora and fauna, and the Kabini River that flows through it. Take a leisurely walk in the forest and enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to the next destination - Banasura Sagar Dam.

  4. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 10 minutes (25.2 km) from Kuruva Island

    Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India. You can take a boat ride and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding hills and the dam. The dam is nestled amidst the Banasura hills and is a popular spot for trekking, hiking and other adventure activities. You can also visit the nearby Banasura Hill Resort for its picturesque views and delicious food. End your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric site with ancient rock art.
