Three-day Family Friendly Itinerary for Mathura, Vrindavan in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Mathura
    Start at Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple, 15 minutes (3.6 km) from Mathura Junction railway station.

    In the morning explore the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple, where Lord Krishna was born. Later, visit Dwarkadheesh Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha, and experience the great architectural marvels of the ancient temple. In the afternoon, enjoy street shopping at Holi Gate Market followed by a visit to the Mathura Museum. In the evening, participate in the evening aarti at Vishram Ghat, which is performed every day on the banks of the River Yamuna.

  2. Day 2: Vrindavan
    Start at Banke Bihari Temple, 15 minutes (6.2 km) from Mathura Junction railway station.

    In the morning, visit Banke Bihari Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, and experience the mesmerizing grandeur of the temple. Later, visit the Prem Mandir, which depicts the eternal love story of Radha and Krishna through its beautiful architecture and light shows. In the afternoon, visit ISKCON Vrindavan, which has a beautiful and peaceful environment followed by a visit to the nearby Keshi Ghat. In the evening, don't miss the Yamuna aarti at Keshi Ghat, which is performed every evening.

  3. Day 3: Mathura and Vrindavan
    Start at Govardhan Hill, 25 minutes (22 km) from Mathura Junction railway station.

    In the morning, head to Govardhan Hill, a famous pilgrimage site, and visit the Mansi Ganga Lake, which is believed to be created by Lord Krishna. Later, visit the Radha Raman Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha, and experience the beautiful architecture and serene environment. In the afternoon, visit Nidhivan, which is said to be the place where Lord Krishna performs Raas Lila with Radha and Gopis. In the evening, visit the beautiful Prem Sarovar Park to enjoy the beautiful fountains and light shows.

Mathura and Vrindavan are ancient cities and have many other temples, ashrams, and pilgrimage sites to explore. You can also plan a side trip to Agra, which is just 60 km away from Mathura, and visit the Taj Mahal.
