4-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary in North Goa for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Old Goa
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Dabolim Airport

    In the morning, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site that houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier. Then, head to the Se Cathedral, the largest church in Asia. Afternoon at Fontainhas, walk around the Latin Quarter, and admire the colorful Portuguese-style houses. In the evening, go to the Museum of Christian Art, which houses a vast collection of Christian art, paintings, and sculptures.

  2. Day 2: Panaji
    15 minutes (5 miles) from Old Goa

    In the morning, visit the Immaculate Conception Church, one of the oldest churches in Goa. Then, walk to the Maruti Temple and enjoy the panoramic view of the city. In the afternoon, go to the Goa State Museum, which houses a collection of ancient and contemporary art, artifacts, and sculptures. In the evening, take a stroll along the Mandovi River and enjoy the sunset.

  3. Day 3: Mapusa
    25 minutes (8 miles) from Panaji

    In the morning, explore the colorful Mapusa Market, which offers a wide variety of fresh produce, spices, and handicrafts. In the afternoon, visit the St. Jerome Church, known for its Baroque architecture and ornate interiors. In the evening, go to the Anjuna Flea Market, which offers a range of souvenirs, clothes, and jewelry.

  4. Day 4: Ponda
    30 minutes (12 miles) from Mapusa

    In the morning, visit the Shri Mangueshi Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and known for its impressive architecture. Then, head to the Shri Mahalakshmi Temple, which is dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity. In the afternoon, go to the Sahakari Spice Farm, where you can learn about the cultivation of herbs and spices and enjoy a traditional Goan meal. In the evening, visit the Tambdi Surla Temple, a 12th-century Shiva temple located in a forested area.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Fort Aguada and Chapora Fort for breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. You can also take a day trip to the Dudhsagar Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. To maximize your fun, try the local cuisine, such as fish curry, vindaloo, and bebinca, a traditional Goan dessert. And don't forget to enjoy the nightlife at Tito's Lane and Curlies Beach Shack.
