Start your day with a morning yoga and meditation session at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, one of the largest ashrams in Rishikesh. After breakfast, take a dip in the holy river Ganges and enjoy the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. This abandoned ashram was once home to the Beatles when they came to Rishikesh in 1968 to learn transcendental meditation. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Parmarth Ghat, where you can witness the beautiful ritual of lamps being floated on the river.
Escape the city and head to Neer Garh Waterfall, a picturesque cascade nestled amidst the mountains. Trek through the lush green forest to reach the waterfall and take a refreshing dip in the cool waters. After lunch, visit the Triveni Ghat, a popular bathing spot where the three holy rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati meet. In the evening, unwind with a relaxing Ayurvedic massage at one of the many spas in Rishikesh.
While in Rishikesh, you can also consider visiting the Rajaji National Park, a tiger reserve located 18 km from the city. You can go for a jeep safari to spot tigers, leopards, elephants and other wildlife. You can also go for a day trip to Haridwar, another holy city located 20 km from Rishikesh. Haridwar is famous for its evening Ganga Aarti ceremony and the Har Ki Pauri ghat. To maximise your fun, try out adventure activities like white water rafting, bungee jumping and zip lining. You can book these activities with local tour operators. Lastly, don't miss out on trying the local cuisine, especially the chaat and lassi.
