Japan, Korea and Road Trips Lead a Busy Day of Travel Planning

Published August 9, 2026

Japan emerged as a standout destination in Plantrip.io’s latest 24-hour planning data, which logged 129 new itineraries on August 9, 2026. Travelers are building detailed multi-city holidays around Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara, with major attractions including Universal Studios Japan, Tokyo Disney Resort, the Ghibli Museum, Mount Fuji, Dotonbori and Nara Deer Park.

East Asia is drawing planners well beyond Japan. Seoul-only holidays are being mapped around Myeongdong, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Ikseon-dong, markets and K-pop-era experiences, while Taiwan routes link Taipei, Alishan, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Guangzhou also feature in plans shaped by street food, shopping and efficient city transport.

Road trips and nature escapes are another clear theme. Families are plotting Scotland’s North Coast 500 with camping stops and child-friendly hikes, while New Zealand itineraries connect Christchurch, Lake Tekapo, Aoraki/Mount Cook, Wānaka, Queenstown and Milford Sound. In North America, travelers are planning coastal drives through New England and Maine, kayaking at Michigan’s Torch Lake, five weeks in a Vancouver Island camper van and fall journeys across Nova Scotia.

Europe remains rich with culture-focused itineraries. Rome, Florence and Venice are being planned around museum visits, flea markets, vaporetto rides and historic evening walks, while Paris and Normandy, Porto, Amsterdam, Cyprus and Switzerland also appear in the day’s travel searches. Several travelers are prioritizing tightly scheduled city breaks, including New York, Sydney and San Francisco.

Food is central to many of the new plans: travelers are requesting seafood in New Orleans and Maine, bacari in Venice, Korean barbecue and market snacks in Seoul, lobster suppers in Prince Edward Island, and regional Indian food stops on temple and coastal road trips. The data points to a travel day defined by highly personalized itineraries—mixing landmark sightseeing with neighborhood dining, outdoor activity and family-friendly pacing.
