Two-Day Munnar Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Tea Estates and Eravikulam National Park
    10 minutes (3.6 km) from Munnar Bus Stand

    Start your day with a visit to the beautiful tea estates of Munnar. You'll have the opportunity to see how tea is grown, harvested, and processed. After the tea estates, head over to Eravikulam National Park, which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. If you're lucky, you might even spot some other wildlife such as elephants, leopards, and gaur. The park also offers several hiking trails with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the afternoon, you can head back to your hotel to relax or explore the nearby markets.

  2. Day 2: Visit Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake
    30 minutes (13.7 km) from Munnar Bus Stand

    The second day begins with a visit to Mattupetty Dam, which offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. You can also take a boat ride on the dam and enjoy the tranquil waters. After the dam, head over to Kundala Lake, where you can take a peaceful walk around the lake or enjoy a Shikara boat ride. In the evening, head back to your hotel to relax or explore the nearby markets.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider visiting Top Station, which is about an hour's drive from Munnar. The view from the top is breathtaking, and you can see the Western Ghats on one side and the plains of Tamil Nadu on the other. You can also consider visiting the Carmelagiri Elephant Park, where you can take an elephant ride through the beautiful forests of Munnar. If you're a fan of adventure sports, then you should definitely try out rock climbing and rappelling in Munnar. Lastly, don't forget to try out the local cuisine, which includes delicious dishes such as appam, puttu, and kadala curry.
