Munnar Nature Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    40 minutes (13.2 km) from Munnar

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Mattupetty Dam. The dam offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. You can take a boat ride and enjoy the serene beauty of the lake.
    Afternoon: For lunch, head to Saravana Bhavan, an excellent vegetarian restaurant that serves delicious South Indian cuisine.
    Evening: Visit the Echo Point, which is just 15 minutes away from the dam. You can shout out loud here and experience the echo phenomenon.

  2. Day 2: Eravikulam National Park
    1 hour 20 minutes (35.7 km) from Mattupetty Dam

    Morning: Get up early and start your day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park. Here, you can experience the beauty of the Western Ghats and spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr.
    Afternoon: For lunch, head to Rapsy Restaurant, which is just 10 minutes away from the park. They serve amazing food with a great view of the valley.
    Evening: After lunch, head back to Munnar and visit the Tea Museum. Learn about the history of tea in Kerala and how it is produced.

Recommendations

Apart from the above itinerary, you can also visit the Kundala Dam and Top Station for some beautiful views. You can also consider a side trip to Thekkady, which is just 3 hours away from Munnar and is famous for its wildlife sanctuary. To maximize your fun, you can try trekking in Munnar. There are many trekking trails in the surrounding hills that offer spectacular views of the valley. Lastly, don't forget to try the local tea and buy some to take back home as a souvenir.
