The temple opens 24 hours a day, so you can visit at any time. Do carry warm clothes as it can get chilly even in summers. You can have lunch at the Bhojanalayas (food stalls) on the way. After returning from the temple, you can relax at your hotel for the evening.

The temple is located at a height of around 6,500 feet and offers a panoramic view of the valley. The trek to the temple is a bit steep and takes around 2-3 hours. After visiting the temple, you can head to the Ardhkuwari Cave, situated halfway between Katra and the Vaishno Devi Temple. The cave has a narrow passage and is believed to be the place where Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for nine months. The cave is open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The trek to the cave takes around 1-2 hours. Have lunch at the Bhojanalayas on the way. In the evening, you can explore the local markets and try out some local delicacies.
There are a few other attractions that you can consider visiting in the area. The Patnitop hill station is located around 70 km from Katra and offers beautiful views of the Himalayas. You can also visit the Mansar Lake, which is around 60 km from Katra and is a popular picnic spot. If you have more time, you can also plan a trip to the Amarnath Cave, which is located around 300 km from Katra.
