Day 1 · Sat, Dec 13
Mysore

Explore Mysore’s Royal Heritage

Morning:

Begin your day at the magnificent Mysore Palace—arrive early to avoid crowds and join a guided tour through the ornate durbar halls, royal galleries, and the sprawling palace grounds. Afterward, stroll across to the nearby Jaganmohana Art Gallery to admire traditional Mysore paintings and artifacts, then grab a filter coffee and breakfast samosa at a local café on Sayyaji Rao Road to fuel up for the day.

Afternoon:

Head to the historic Chamundi Hill: stop at the Chamundeshwari Temple for panoramic views of the city and visit the imposing Nandi statue carved out of a single granite block. Next, descend into the heart of the city to explore the vibrant Devaraja Market—sample fresh spices, fragrant flowers and Mysore pak sweets, and pick up a few silk saree or sandalwood souvenirs from the nearby Mysore Silk emporiums.

Evening:

As dusk falls, return to Mysore Palace to witness the palace illuminated (check the lighting schedule) for a magical photo opportunity, then walk along the well-lit avenues to the Brindavan Gardens a short drive away to enjoy the musical fountain show and manicured terraces. Finish with a relaxed dinner at a restaurant serving authentic Kannada cuisine—try bisibele bath or ragi mudde—before retiring to your hotel for a restful night ahead of your Coorg transfer tomorrow.

Day 2 · Sun, Dec 14
Coorg (Madikeri)

Scenic Coorg: Coffee Plantations & Abbey Falls

Morning:

After a leisurely breakfast at your Mysore hotel, drive early to Coorg (around 3-4 hours) and settle into a homestay or plantation bungalow near Madikeri. Start with a guided tour of a working coffee estate such as the Golden Hills or one of the family-run plantations—walk among shade trees, learn about bean varieties and the wet/dry processing, and savour a fresh cup of filter coffee right where it was roasted.

Afternoon:

Head toward Abbey Falls for a short trek through pepper and cardamom vines to the viewpoint, enjoying the misty spray and photo opportunities at the cascade; on the way back, stop at Raja’s Seat for sweeping valley views and seasonal flowers. Continue with a visit to the nearby Madikeri Fort and the quaint Omkareshwara Temple to soak up local history, then browse local shops for Coorg honey, roasted coffee beans, and aromatic spices.

Evening:

Return to your homestay as dusk settles and join the hosts for a traditional Kodava meal—try pandi curry (pork) or kadambuttu (rice dumplings) paired with freshly brewed coffee. Finish the day with a relaxed walk around the plantation under starry skies or a short nightcap on the cottage veranda, resting well for your onward journey or return to Mysore the next morning.
