2-Day Bangkok Itinerary — December 16–17, 2025

Day 1 · Tue, Dec 16
Bangkok

Arrival and Bangkok highlights

Morning:

Since you’re already in the city this morning, take it easy with a relaxed start at a nearby café — try Rocket Coffeebar S. Sathorn for excellent coffee and Thai-style brunch. After refueling, stroll through Lumphini Park to stretch your legs, watch locals practising tai chi, and get your first glimpse of Bangkok’s skyline before the afternoon bustle.

Afternoon:

Head to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew after midday (arrive by mid-afternoon to avoid the longest queues); admire the Emerald Buddha and the intricate royal murals, then cross to Wat Pho to see the Reclining Buddha and book a traditional Thai massage at the temple’s respected school. If time allows, take a short river taxi to the nearby Museum of Siam for a lively, modern introduction to Thai culture and history.

Evening:

As dusk falls, walk along the Chao Phraya or take a sunset river cruise to see illuminated temples from the water, then make your way to Chinatown (Yaowarat) for a street-food feast—try grilled seafood, oyster omelette and mango sticky rice from popular stalls like Nai Mong Hoi Thod. Finish the night with rooftop cocktails at a nearby bar such as Sky Bar at Lebua or Vertigo and Moon Bar for sweeping views of Bangkok by night.

Day 2 · Wed, Dec 17
Bangkok

Markets, temples and river cruise

Morning:

Start your day at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market or, for a less touristy option, Amphawa Floating Market — arrive early to see vendors paddling their boats laden with fresh fruit, noodle soups and grilled seafood while the canal-side temples come to life. Alternatively, if you prefer to stay in the city, wander through the Chatuchak Weekend Market (open on weekends) or explore the colorful stalls at Or Tor Kor Market for premium produce and ready-to-eat Thai specialties; grab mango sticky rice and a cup of cha yen as you browse.

Afternoon:

Head back toward the river in the afternoon to visit Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) — climb the central prang for close-up views of its porcelain mosaics and the Chao Phraya below — then take a short ferry across to the elegant Wat Kalayanamit or explore the nearby Khao San Road area for a lively contrast of street life. Stop at the Bangkok National Museum or the Museum of Siam if you want a deeper cultural context, or relax with a riverside lunch at The Deck by Arun Residence with a view of the temple.

Evening:

As dusk falls, board a sunset Chao Phraya dinner cruise to watch temples and historic riverside buildings light up while enjoying Thai cuisine and live music, or choose a smaller longtail boat tour for a more intimate cruise through the city’s klongs (canals). Finish the night back in riverside Chinatown (Yaowarat) for late-night street-food exploration — sample barbecued prawns, bird’s nest soup or a bowl of beef noodle soup before calling it a night.
