Two-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Udaipur in June 2024

  1. Day 1: City Palace

Spend your morning exploring the courtyards, gardens, and museums that showcase the rich cultural heritage of Udaipur. Don't miss the Mewar Sound and Light Show that brings the palace to life with stories of valour, love, and sacrifice. For lunch, head to one of the nearby restaurants that serve traditional Rajasthani cuisine. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Pichola and marvel at the stunning view of the palace from the water. End your day with a visit to the Jagdish Temple, a beautiful example of Indo-Aryan architecture.

  2. Day 2: Fateh Sagar Lake and Saheliyon ki Bari
    15 minutes (5.5 km) from City Palace

    Start your day with a visit to Fateh Sagar Lake, a peaceful spot that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. Take a walk along the lake and enjoy the refreshing breeze. For breakfast, head to the nearby stalls that serve delicious street food. In the afternoon, visit Saheliyon ki Bari, a beautiful garden that was built for the queen and her ladies-in-waiting. Stroll through the lush greenery and admire the fountains, lotus pool, and marble elephants. Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Monsoon Palace, an abandoned palace on a hill that offers stunning views of the city. You can also take a day trip to the Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is about 2 hours from Udaipur. To maximize your fun, try bargaining with the vendors in the local markets and indulge in some retail therapy. If you are interested in traditional Rajasthani music and dance, attend a cultural show at Bagore ki Haveli in the evening. Finally, don't forget to try the famous Udaipur speciality, the dal baati churma, a rich and flavourful dish made with lentils, wheat dumplings, and a sweet dessert made with jaggery and ghee.
