Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Udaipur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: City Palace
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Udaipur Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the City Palace, a stunning palace complex with beautiful architecture and intricate designs. The palace has several museums showcasing the history and culture of the Mewar dynasty. In the afternoon, explore the palace gardens and enjoy the scenic views of Lake Pichola.   2. Day 2: Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon Ki Bari
    10 minutes (2 km) from City Palace

    Start your day by visiting the ancient Jagdish Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings. In the afternoon, head to Saheliyon Ki Bari, a beautiful garden with fountains, lotus pools, and marble elephants. The garden was built for the queen and her maids. In the evening, attend the Dharohar Folk Dance Show to witness the vibrant culture of Rajasthan.

  3. Day 3: Sajjangarh Palace and Fateh Sagar Lake
    20 minutes (7 km) from Jagdish Temple

    Start your day by visiting Sajjangarh Palace, also known as the Monsoon Palace. Located on a hilltop overlooking the city, the palace offers stunning views of the Aravali mountain range. In the afternoon, head to Fateh Sagar Lake and take a boat ride to explore the lake and its surroundings. In the evening, visit Shilpgram, a rural arts and crafts complex which showcases the rich culture and heritage of Rajasthan.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 80 km from Udaipur. You can also take a day trip to Chittorgarh Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site located 120 km from Udaipur. To maximize your fun, try the local street food such as kachori, samosa, and mirchi vada. You can also take a cooking class to learn how to make traditional Rajasthani dishes. Lastly, don't forget to shop for traditional Rajasthani handicrafts and souvenirs at the local markets.
