Arrive at Zhong Ke Hotel around 7:00 PM, take a short break, then walk roughly 15 minutes toward the Chongde Road Dining Area. This is an easy first stop after work, with plenty of Taiwanese restaurants, noodle shops, dumpling places, and hot-pot venues concentrated around Chongde Road and Wenxin Chongde Station. Allow about NT$250–600 per person; for a quick local meal, look for beef noodles, lu rou fan, or a small hot-pot restaurant. Most places remain open until around 9:00–10:00 PM, but popular restaurants can fill quickly during dinner hours.
Walk to Wenxin Chongde Station and take the Taichung MRT Green Line toward Wenxin Forest Park Station—the ride is about 10–15 minutes, plus a short walk from the station. Wenxin Forest Park is a good place to slow down after dinner: the broad paths, lawns, and mature trees are pleasantly calm at night, although August will still be warm and humid. Plan for about 40–50 minutes here, and carry water; the park itself is free and generally accessible at all hours, but some facilities close earlier.
Return to the MRT and continue to City Hall Station, from which National Taichung Theater is a short walk. Spend around 30 minutes viewing its dramatic curved exterior and strolling the surrounding plaza; after 10:00 PM, indoor access and exhibitions may be closed, so treat this as an illuminated architectural stop rather than a museum visit. If you still have energy, take a city bus from the City Hall area toward Fengjia Night Market—allow roughly 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. Browse the lanes for grilled squid, fried chicken, scallion pancakes, pepper buns, and bubble tea, budgeting NT$100–300 for snacks. The market is usually lively until close to midnight, though individual stalls may begin packing up earlier. Return to Zhong Ke Hotel by bus if services are still convenient; after 11:30 PM, a rideshare is the more practical taxi-free alternative, and it is wise to check the last MRT and bus connections before leaving the hotel.
