Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Set off from Hyderabad before dawn for the roughly 9–11-hour drive to Aurangabad, allowing extra time for meal and fuel breaks. The usual road route runs via Solapur; roadworks, traffic around towns and the final approach can stretch the journey, so confirm your driver’s route and stop plan in advance. Arrange hotel parking and late check-in before leaving. After such a long drive, treat the remaining visits as optional: you may have to choose just one depending on daylight and energy.
If you arrive with enough daylight, visit Bibi Ka Maqbara in Begumpura for about an hour. Its garden and Mughal-style architecture are especially rewarding in the softer late-afternoon light; check the current closing time and entry fee locally, and don’t count on entry if the drive runs late. Panchakki, a short drive away, is a compact 30–45-minute stop near the old city. Check its current visiting hours before setting out, and allow for local traffic and time to park between the two.
For a regional meal, head to Bhoj Thali in Nirala Bazar if it’s open when you arrive; budget around ₹300–700 per person. Look for local-style dishes such as jowar bhakri and zunka, or ask what regional specialities are available that evening. Keep dinner flexible—after the long drive, an early meal near your hotel may be the better call.
Get to Ellora Caves for opening, generally around 6am; the complex is usually closed on Tuesdays, so check the current schedule and access notices before setting out. Give the site 3–4 hours, with Kailasa Temple (Cave 16) as the priority—it’s a whole temple carved from a single rock face, and morning is cooler and quieter for exploring. Indian entry is typically around ₹40, but confirm the current ticket price and any online-booking requirements. Wear shoes you can manage on uneven paths and carry water.
It’s a short walk from the caves to Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. Allow about an hour, and longer if there’s a queue; check the temple’s current darshan guidance and any entry or dress requirements before arriving. To keep the onward drive comfortable, aim to leave for Shirdi by early afternoon. The road leg is roughly 3–4 hours, but allow extra time for traffic and a break, so late-afternoon arrival is an optimistic target.
After checking in, head to Shri Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir for darshan; allow 1.5–3 hours depending on the queue. Check the official guidance and booking requirements in advance—access and waiting times can vary, and don’t count on a particular slot without a confirmed booking. For dinner nearby, Hotel Sai Jashan is a convenient sit-down option; budget roughly ₹250–600 per person. If the drive or darshan runs late, keep dinner simple and close to the temple area.
Leave Shirdi around 7am for Mahabaleshwar; allow 5–7 hours on the road, including a meal and comfort stop. That puts arrival around noon at best, later if traffic builds, so keep the first stop focused: spend about an hour at Mapro Garden on the Panchgani–Mahabaleshwar road. There’s a garden and food area, plus a café for lunch or a snack; budget roughly ₹300–700 per person.
Continue to Venna Lake for a relaxed lakeside visit of about 1–1.5 hours. Boating is optional and depends on availability, so don’t let a queue eat into the rest of the afternoon. Then head to Arthur’s Seat for the valley views; allow about an hour for the walk and viewpoint, and aim to arrive with daylight to spare. This is a tight sequence after the drive, so trim your time at the earlier stops if you’re running late.
Don’t attempt the drive from Mahabaleshwar to Hyderabad after sightseeing: it’s roughly 11–13 hours by road, before breaks. Stay overnight in Mahabaleshwar and set out for Hyderabad the following morning, allowing a full day for the drive; confirm your cab and pickup arrangements in advance. If you must be back in Hyderabad today, the realistic choice is to skip the Mahabaleshwar sightseeing and begin the return from Shirdi instead.
