Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Allow roughly 5–7 hours door to door for the flight day, including getting to Ahmedabad airport, check-in and security, the flight, and the transfer into central Delhi; the actual flight is only part of that time. Check flight schedules before planning anything else, and leave a generous buffer rather than assuming you can start sightseeing soon after landing. From the airport, a prepaid taxi or app cab is simplest with luggage; the Airport Express Metro is useful if your hotel is near a station. A same-day return to Ahmedabad makes the sightseeing plan below unrealistic, so treat this as an overnight Delhi stay.
If your arrival leaves enough time, start with an easy walk around India Gate and its lawns, then allow 1.5–2 hours at the National Museum. Check the museum’s current hours and closure day before setting out; it is commonly closed on Mondays. Continue to Indian Coffee House in Connaught Place for a casual meal—budget about ₹300–₹600 per person and roughly an hour. From Connaught Place, take a cab to Humayun’s Tomb in Nizamuddin; allow 1.5–2 hours for the tomb and gardens, and verify current opening and ticket arrangements before you go. These stops are spread across the city, so traffic and late arrival can easily force cuts; don’t count on fitting all three attractions into a travel day.
A Delhi–Ahmedabad flight also needs airport travel, check-in and arrival transfers, so returning the same day after these visits is not a practical plan. If the return is fixed for today, make it a travel-only day and confirm your airport departure buffer with the airline; otherwise, stay overnight and arrange the return for a later day.
