3-Day Itinerary for Varanasi in November 2023

  1. Day 1: Assi Ghat
    15 minutes (3.2 km) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, head to Assi Ghat to witness the sunrise and take a boat ride on the Ganges River. You can later visit the Tulsi Manas Temple and Durga Temple. In the afternoon, visit the Banaras Hindu University and the Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.

  2. Day 2: Sarnath
    30 minutes (10.1 km) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    Start your day with a visit to the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Afterward, take a taxi to the ancient Buddhist site of Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon. Visit the Sarnath Archaeological Museum and the Chaukhandi Stupa. In the evening, attend the Sound and Light show.

  3. Day 3: Ramnagar Fort
    20 minutes (7.8 km) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    Start your day at the Ramnagar Fort, situated on the banks of the Ganges River. Visit the Ramnagar Museum and the Durga Temple. In the afternoon, explore the narrow alleys of the old town and visit the Kachori Gali and the Vishwanath Gali. End your day with a sunset boat ride and witness the Ganga Aarti at the Assi Ghat.

If you have extra time, you may want to visit the Akhileshwar Temple, the Manikarnika Ghat, and the Alamgir Mosque. You can also take a trip to the nearby city of Allahabad, which is famous for the Kumbh Mela festival.
